Loving Literacy with Miss Brittany

Your child WILL become a skilled reader with the proper interventions. So lets work together!

Having a child who is struggling with learning to read can be stressful, discouraging, frustrating, and scary.

Because…….Children who don’t get off to a good START in reading usually struggle for the rest of their school career and consequentially, long after.

That’s why I’m here. I’d love to get to know you and answer all of your questions.

Virtual Tutoring Sessions

All you have to do is get your child logged on for their lesson. They can learn without having to disrupt your daily routine or add driving/waiting time to your schedule.

100% Individualized Lesson Plans

Every lesson is tailored to your child’s specific needs and designed to move the needle forward by addressing the root.

Multisensory and Interactive

Even though our lessons take place on Zoom, your child will enjoy a hands-on experience very similar to in-person learning with a kit of materials sent to your home before we begin. They will be an active participant in each lesson, not just watching and listening.

Fun and Engaging

Your child will be excited to get online for every lesson! They will be engaged with games, challenges, and even rewards to earn throughout the lessons.

How does it work?

*Schedule a free Zoom consultation with me. (Click the orange button below!)

In our initial 15 minute meeting we will get to know each other and I’ll learn about your child’s specific situation. Think of it like “Meet the Teacher Night” before a new school year. Then, should you choose, I’ll send a contract right over. If there is a waiting list, you will not have to sign a contract until I have an opening for you.

*I will do a series of baseline assessments with your child.

Our first few sessions will be assessments that tell me exactly what your child knows well and what they need to know next. This enables me to start them at just the right spot and fill in any gaps they may have in their learning.

*We get to work!

After assessments, I’ll formulate a plan for instruction that is perfect for your child and meet with you again to discuss our next steps.

FAQ

How many days per week do you teach?

I teach 2 days per week (Wednesday and Friday) and I do require students to be scheduled for both days. Assignments are provided for parents to support learning on the off days if they wish to do so.

How long are your sessions?

Each session is 45-50 minutes long. There is time for a brief parent recap at the end of a session any time it is requested or I feel it is necessary.

What happens if I miss a session?

I do not offer make-up times if a lesson is missed. My schedule is very tight and logistically it is not possible to reschedule kids. I always tell families to view tutoring like they would a dance class or a sport. If you don’t show up for a practice, you simply miss that opportunity. On the bright side, virtual sessions give your child the flexibility to attend their lesson from anywhere, even if you are on vacation! Sixty minutes in the condo could be a perfect break from the beach before heading back out to play.

How much does tutoring cost?

My tuition rate is $160/week. What you get is a premium private teaching experience. 1:1 sessions, completely individualized lessons, just-right pacing for your child, detailed instructions and activities for supporting learning on the off days perfectly aligned with the content we are working on at the time, ongoing parent support. Imagine having a reading teacher in your back pocket…that could be me!

What if my child isn’t making progress in tutoring?

I promise that I will be the first to tell you if your child isn’t making adequate progress with me so you can decide on another method of intervention, but I’m really confident that this won’t be an issue!

How long am I committed to tutoring once I book?

When you book with me, you are committing to one month of tutoring. At the end of the month you have no obligation to continue sessions, and no hard feelings.

How do I make payments?

I will send an electronic invoice to your preferred email address and payment for the week is due by each Tuesday in order for your child to attend their sessions starting on Wednesday.

What is the multisensory kit?

The multisensory kit costs $50 and is yours to keep forever, even after you are finished working with me. The kit includes all of the hands-on elements that I would normally use to teach in my classroom. You will receive the high quality materials before we begin our sessions. Your child will be able to pull things out of the box as needed during our lessons to be fully interactive and low-tech.

Do I have to sit with my child during the lesson?

Here’s the thing. You know your child best. Some kids might NEED a grown up sitting in arms reach to keep them in front of the screen. I get it. If your child doesn’t need you to be that close, you are welcome to go about your business and leave them to work with me. It is important that you keep them in view at all times and are available to assist if they are having a technical glitch or something of that nature.
